Elizabeth Phelps

Elizabeth Phelps earned her doctorate in Cultural Anthropology from Cornell University, with her dissertation titled Sequestered Inclusion: Social Service Discourses and New Latino Diaspora Youth in the Shenandoah Valley. She previously taught within the Applied Social Sciences and Cross-Cultural programs at Eastern Mennonite University where she led student groups in semester abroad programs to Guatemala and South Africa, and summer term trips to Peru. Dr. Phelps has also worked for many years in international development and non-profit organizations in Bolivia, Colombia, and the Commonwealth of Virginia, and taught secondary English in Albania and Virginia.Â
